Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco announced that nearly 2,000 new and advanced slot machines will be delivered to Casino Filipino venues by mid-September as part of the organisation’s ongoing modernisation programme. This upgrade aims to elevate gaming options across the country’s Casino Filipino branches to attract more visitors and improve profitability.??
In an event in Manila, Tengco highlighted PAGCOR’s efforts to enhance its facilities ahead of the planned privatisation of its casinos. “As we prepare for the planned privatisation of PAGCOR casinos, we intend to increase their value by modernising our gaming facilities and equipment to make them more attractive to potential investors,” Tengco stated during his keynote speech.??
Boosting value for privatisation??
According to PAGCOR, the first batch of slot machines, consisting of 1,968 units, will be delivered this week, with a total of 3,341 units ordered. The new machines will match those currently used in the country’s top integrated resort casinos, aligning PAGCOR’s offerings with industry standards.??
Future expansion plans??
Tengco also provided updates on other projects during the event, mentioning PAGCOR’s plan to open additional integrated resorts in key tourist destinations in the coming years. This move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the gaming sector’s contribution to the Philippine economy.??
Speaking with SiGMA News earlier this year, Tengco said the agency is confident that the Philippines can achieve its target gross gaming revenue (GGR) of PHP336.38 billion (€5.3 billion) in 2024. He also shared the plans for IRs in the Entertainment City in Metro Manila, in Clark, Pampanga, as well as new casinos in Boracay and Mactan Island.??
The PAGCOR Chairman also encouraged the adoption and integration of new gaming technology as well as adopting best practices to ensure that the Philippines remains a major gaming destination in the region.?
